A couple of Louisiana Tech Bulldogs had an unexpected family reunion when one of them transferred to Tech this summer.
Adairius Barnes' phone rang and it was his grandfather calling. His grandfather called to tell him he had a cousin transferring to Louisiana Tech from Texas Tech. That player of course, is middle linebacker Daniel Cobb.
"It's crazy for us to be on the same team and for him to transfer and me not even know that he was my cousin," Barnes said.
Cobb, originally from Gloster, Miss. and Barnes from Port Gibson, Miss. are originally from two places only an hour away but never met, and are first cousins.
"I called my grandma and he called his grandad and I got to talking to him and he started naming people from my side of the family. It's a small world that I met one of my first cousins at Louisiana Tech," Cobb said.

"Now, we're getting kind of close now since we know that we're family so we've got to have eachother's back," Barnes said.
This fall, both Barnes and Cobb have been running with one's on defense for Tech with Barnes at cornerback and Cobb at middle linebacker. Cobb was the third leading tackler for the Texas Tech Red Raiders two seasons ago.
